Dalia Zerachya | Solo Exhibition

An evening stroll in the city can turn into a journey into the individual spaces of the people living in it.

The turn in the road from Hess St. to Allenby St. can become the gateway from the living room into the bedroom.

Some people throw out their old furniture into the urban space while others collect this furniture and give it a new home.

On the shelves of a rundown wooden bookstand thrown out in the street, Zerachya depicts the very same story: Domestic spaces, corridors, stairs, hidden nooks and crannies...

People seem to be present in these works of art, despite their absence

The pistachio colored Crystal Cabinet appears time and again; it fills the space with content, matter and color. 

The painted spaces are reminiscent of a period in which furniture styles and the nature of life were all about a culture of restraint. 

In placing color on wood, Zerachya is looking for the interplay between the overt and the covert, in matter and narrative.

The wood lends itself during the painting and its texture and shades become a part of it.

The brush strokes are integrated with the wood and disclose beauty, restraint, tranquility and power.

The act of drawing on the wooden shelves of the old crystal cabinet connects between the two raw materials and forms them into one statement.

The wood, warm and deep, livens up the bright cold spaces.

טיול ערב ברחבי העיר עלול להפוך למסע אל תוך החללים הפרטיים של האנשים החיים בה.

הפניה מרחוב הס לרחוב אלנבי יכולה פתאום להפוך למעבר מהסלון אל חדר השינה

יש אנשים הזורקים את הרהיטים הישנים אל המרחב העירוני ויש אנשים שאוספים את הרהיטים ונותנים להם בית חדש.
על מדפי כוננית עץ מפורקת שנזרקה לרחוב, ציירת זרחיה את אותו הסיפור עצמו: חללים ביתיים, מסדרונות, מדרגות, פינות חבויות... יש נוכחות של אנשים בעבודות, למרות העדרם

ויטרינת הקריסטלים בצבע הפיסטוק, מופיעה שוב ושוב בכל אחת מהעבודות, מלווה את החלל, ממלאת אותו בתוכן, חומר וצבע

החללים המצוירים מזכירים תקופה בה סיגנון הריהוט ואופי החיים סבב סביב תרבות האיפוק. בהנחת הצבע על העץ מחפשת זרחיה אחרי המשחק בין גלוי ומוסתר, בחומר ובנרטיב. העץ מתמסר בזמן הציור, ומרקמיו וגווניו הופכים להיות חלק ממנו. משיכות המכחול משולבות עם העץ ומגלות יופי, ריסון, שקט וכוח. אקט הציור על מדפי העץ של הויטרינה הישנה, מחבר בין שני חומרי הגלם לכדי אמירה אחת. העץ כחומר חם ועמוק, מחיה את החללים הבהירים הקרים
